The evidence

IEA Global EV Outlook 2026 reports electric trucks reached 9% of global truck sales in 2025. This current evidence is distinct from the 2021 retrospective lens.

The business implication

Start with fixed routes and reliable overnight parking. Capture payload, terrain, turnaround and charging windows before seeking vehicle quotations. A cheaper kilometre is valuable only if the vehicle completes the scheduled work.

What could change the result?

Demand charges, downtime, battery degradation and residual value can reverse apparent savings.
